Environmental & Cultural Studies

What?

  • Environmental & cultural studies exposes students to the importance of connecting with diverse cultures, languages, and the natural world. The combination of these associations help students understand the different ways that people work, live, and play, while challenging students to evaluate their own belief systems.

Why?

  • Environmental & cultural studies offer diverse educational opportunities for children to gain awareness about different global landscapes and cultures. It encourages environmentally-friendly behavior, perspective-taking and gives students the freedom to use their imagination while exploring different parts of the world.

How?

  • Scavenger Stories takes an adventure-based learning approach using immersive storytelling, imaginative play, thematic games, and craft-making to engage and motivate children to become world explorers and environmental heroes.

Custom StoryHunt Programs

StoryHunt

  • In StoryHunts, the creative teaching team guides students on a treasure hunt where students unlock different clues about the custom-themed geographic area or landscape by acting out parts in a performative story. Each program ends with a craft-making session where the SSL team teaches students how to make puppets and props aligned with the theme.

  • For: Ages 3-12

  • Runtime: Program runs for 1 hour and a half (offered in 2 back-to-back 30 minute sessions with a 15 minute break in between for a total of 1 hour)

StoryOne

  • StoryOne tutoring sessions use our unique narrative adventure-based approach and tailor it to the individual child. We use the child’s specific interests to develop and support specific skills they are acquiring in their learning journey. We also develop goals for the child which will strengthen and support their needs and build on skills practiced at school.

StoryCrew

  • Capacity: 4-7 kids

  • StoryCrews are small group sessions where the teaching team helps kids reinforce their social and communication skills through games, stories, puzzles, and play. These exciting themed sessions reinforce age-appropriate learning areas.

StoryFlock

  • StoryFlocks are large group themed sessions where kids are guided to explore our amazing world and cultures through stories, unique crafts, and fun games/challenges. Each mission has a fun theme. Not only will kids discover and learn about the theme, but they’ll strengthen their social skills and collaboration with peers through the sessions.
