Scavenger Stories Learning was created to spark connection and inspire creativity through story-telling workshops for youth in classrooms and parks around NYC.
Our dedicated group of arts educators offer educational programming from individualized learning to larger group immersive content-based workshops.
Team
Tony Canty, Artist Educator and Founder, has worked with elementary-aged children for more than 15 years in play, social skills, and arts-based instruction. Through learning best instructional practices from Johns Hopkins University to gaining professional certification in Play Therapy at Brooklyn College, Tony is excited to share his passion of story-telling and arts education with children and families all around NYC.

Julia Newcorn, Artist Educator. Originally from Chicago, Julia brings lively storytelling to SSL’s workshops. She holds a BA in Communication, Culture, and Media Studies from Fordham University and has worked in several elementary after school programs. She creates enchanting stories and enjoys illustrating to bring the writing to life.
Marco Hermosilla, Artist Educator. Originally from Mexico, Marco can be found teaching bilingual (Spanish) programs for kids at different museums around the Big Apple. He holds a BA in Art from UCLA and in Art History from the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana in Mexico City. He creates colorful illustrations and enjoys creating craft activities for children.
Farangiz Yusupova, Artist Educator. Farangiz Yusupova is an artist educator and a painter based in Brooklyn, NY. She was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and immigrated to the U.S. in 2014. She holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and is currently pursuing her MFA degree at Hunter College. Farangiz enjoys making creative props for interactive learning and teaching art to kids of all ages.
